Nicotinamide riboside is a form of vitamin B3, which recent research has shown to be a precursor to Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). NAD+ decreases with age and low levels of it are found in people with disease. It is vital for the optimal functioning of the body’s mitochondria which power our cells.
Mice who were administered with nicotinamide riboside in recent studies were found to have experienced restoration of their organs and enhanced longevity.Nicotinamide riboside seems to rejuvenate stem cells allowing them to better execute repair functions within the body.
So the big question is how much nicotinamide riboside do we need to take so that we can enjoy all these benefits? Recent studies have shown that a single 100mg dose of NR increased NAD+ levels by up to 30% and that at doses of 300mg increased the levels to 50%. At the higher doses the increased NAD+ levels remained higher for longer.
